BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY: TRANSFORMING YOUR BRAND'S IMAGE

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY FOR A BUSINESS?

Branding Photography helps your business create a strong visual identity, convey professionalism, build trust with customers, and stand out in a crowded market. Through consistent and high-quality images, branding photography can enhance brand recognition and attract your target audience effectively.

I’ve recently shot a lot more brand photography images, and I’ve been loving it! “Brand photography – a range of professional images that represent a business visually, and fit with a visual identity through their use of colours, tone, props, sets and more. These can include photos of you, your team, your products, your process, your space and other things that make your business unique.”.

So, I’ve compiled a list of answers/tips to my most commonly asked questions, when it comes to branding photography bookings.

Key things to think about when having your branding photographs taken…

-
Location – Once you know the visuals/look you’re after you can work out which sort of location would best suit your businesses’ vibes; Be it, sitting at your desk, mooching outside on your favourite walk or in an urban setting, just make sure that it makes sense for your brand, your dream clients and showcases what your business is all about.

-
Lighting - If your shoot is outdoors, aim for the light around early mornings or early evenings, i.e. before the sun goes down - these times are known as “Golden Hour” and this light will be soft and flattering for portraits. If your shoot is indoors, pay attention to different times of the day when the light is better for where you want your photographer to set up.

-
Styling – This is the biggest thing I tell my photography clients: "Make sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing!" You want to forget about what you’re wearing and be able to relax and enjoy your shoot. So… pick - clothes, accessories and hair & makeup that not only communicates your brand effectively, but that also makes you feel confident and amazing. The ability to move is key too!

-
Flexibly – You don’t have to look straight at the camera, you can look around and try lots of different variations, these things take time to get right, so try to be patient and flexible, you’ll be glad you gave yourself that time afterwards. Don’t be afraid to act goofy, move around, smile, jump, laugh, etc… try sitting down, standing up, even an outfit change! If you are clear about your brand, you’ll know the type of images that are working for you, and you and your photographer can make any necessary changes as you go along.

-
Relax – Have fun whilst having your pictures taken and just be yourself! People want to connect with YOU, after all.

This branding session for Millie's small business captured her brand identity/visual identity, brand personality/brand identity and the true essence of her unique personality. The whole process of this personal branding session/personal branding shoot was great fun from start to finish, professionalism was followed whilst Millie still had fun in front of the camera which left us with a great feeling and we both loved the whole thing, Millie definitely is my ideal client. This headshot session with branding imagery told this brand story to attract Millie's dream clients. As a business owner myself, helping a personal brand with their brand photography for their social platforms (e.g. Instagram) is definitely a passion of mine.

A brand photoshoot/personal branding photo shoot in different locations really can benefit any small business owners.

I really loved capturing this photo shoot/branding photo shoot and sending Millie her brand photos/personal branding photographs from her personal branding photography session. I honestly had SO much fun working with Millie, and it felt utterly wonderful to be able to get her the shots that she loved and will use everywhere to reflect her business at the level that it deserves!
