​WHAT IS A SMASH SHOOT, AND WHY IS IT POPULAR FOR PHOTOGRAPHY?

This type of shoot is a fun session where a baby or toddler is encouraged to smash, eat, and play with a cake. It captures candid moments of joy and excitement, making it popular for photography, as it creates adorable memories that families can cherish forever.

FIRST BIRTHDAY PHOTOSHOOT: BEFORE YOUR SHOOT

As a cake smash photographer, I can tell you, this type of photography session is the perfect way to have so much fun, frosting and pure joy and mess!

​

As soon as you book your cake smash photography session, we’ll start talking about colours and themes, to ensure that everything works well together and looks exactly like you want it to – from the birthday cake to your little one’s cake smash outfits.

​

On the day of your smash photography session, I’ll have my "cake smash shoot photographer" official setup and backdrop ready for your little one, which can include a wooden cake stand, spoon and any other accessories we've discussed prior. To avoid any risk with allergies and intolerances, I will ask you to provide the cake, but of course we’ll make sure to discuss colours and other details prior to the shoot too.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT CAKE SMASH SHOOT PHOTOGRAPHER?

When choosing a cake smash shoot photographer, look for someone experienced in working with children, who has a portfolio that aligns with your style, offers props or themes you like, and provides a comfortable setting for your child to enjoy themselves whilst capturing those adorable moments perfectly.

HOW DO MY SESSIONS WORK?

​

These shoots usually last 1.5-2 hours, this includes my set-up too, but believe me, they are so much fun that time will really fly!

 

We’ll start off with a few simple portraits against our setup, to show your little one’s birthday finery in all its glory. This will also help us to get baby comfortable and ready for some… fun! This is always an interesting part – some babies dive straight in, while some take a little encouragement to start tasting and playing. And that’s totally fine, they can make as much or as little mess as they want to while I capture some more portraits! If you are worried about sugar or simply want to explore some alternatives, jelly and fruit can also be used to create some beautiful images… and an amazing mess! Now after all that fun, it’s time for a quick clear up and for some… BUBBLES!​

AFTER YOUR SESSION

​

I will edit your images and create your final gallery approximately 2 weeks after your session. Here, we will reveal your photos and help you decide which products and package suit you best, and if there's anything extra you wish to add, in addition to your complimentary digital images (that come with your shoot). Extra digital images and prints and are all available to purchase.
